Books

Run the Rivers of Southern Africa, written by Celliers Kruger, is the first and only guide to the whitewater rivers of Southern Africa. If you are a paddler or even just curious about rivers in Southern Africa, this book is for you. It will open your eyes to the amazing variety of paddling destinations available, from scenic cruises to technical creeks to big water magic.

More than 140 sections on over 70 rivers are described, from short one-day to severe multi-day expedition trips. All river descriptions are accompanied by simple-to-use detailed maps and fact files, listing important information like difficulty, length, duration, put-in and take-out, necessary permits, etc.

The book is available in a coffee table book format: hard cover, A4 size, 160 pages, glossy paper, with full-colour pictures throughout.

African Veins, compiled by Celliers Kruger, is a collection of paddling stories by various African paddlers. The paddlers who contributed stories to the book are Corran Addison, Graeme Addison, Tim Biggs, Dave Briggs, Hendri Coetzee, Hugh du Preez, Craig Eksteen, Oli Feuilette, Steve Hardy, Mike Harrison, Andrew Kellet, Celliers Kruger, Dave Manby, Gareth Ochse, Ross O'Donoghue, Peter Ridgway, Chris Robberts, Jaco Saaiman, Jamie Simpson, Nicola Simpson, Adrian Tregoning and Willem van Riet.

There are 29 stories in the book. Some are accounts of epic expeditions, some describe tragic river accidents, some share the hilarious side of river paddlers. It's a great selection of stories, as can be expected from the diverse group of paddlers who contributed.

The book is available in soft cover format, A5 size, 300 pages.
